What is O-bon? (英語とフランス語のみ)

O-bon corresponds to a Japanese Buddhist period of festivity during which people meet with their families and pay homage to the souls of the deceased. It is also a holiday period in Japan since the festivities last about 3 to 5 days. The O-bon period usually takes place around August 15th, and many matsuri ("festival" in Japanese) take place, during which Japanese people are traditionally dressed in yukata (= summer kimono), perform traditional dances and have fun with hanabi (= fireworks).
